It’s such a rush..
Posted in Life, Work on 05/24/2008 12:05 am by Flora~*Well today I headed over to the Convention Centre for the National Careers & Employment Expo. It was a pretty rewarding day. Original plans were meant to be Erin, John and I making our way over, but Erin got tied down with several recruitment tests and group interviews and the like. WHATEVERRRRR (Nah, getting a job is pretty important, as demonstrated by my attendance at a careers expo).
I ended up doing the rounds, grabbing my free stationery items and talking to relevant exhibitors of interest. Spoke to a few I wouldn’t of normally considered and found some new options to consider. When 2010 rolls around; and I’m up for a sea change, I think I may take up policing interstate and expand my horizon a little. I mean, it’s an option I *could* honestly consider, given the practicalities behind it and the financial remuneration (though that is not what I’m about). There are A LOT more opportunities for merit and promotion in the other states and the trends for QPS could be fairly different when my time for applying as a recruit comes. Oh I don’t know. I’m so keen to just get out there and do something already.
Walking through the city this morning, tall hot chocolate in one hand and the other in deep animated conversation, I noticed the how everyone was sort of a sheep. Get off the bus, grind your way through the masses to work. Work. Eat. Work. Grind your way back to the bus, go home. And then you die. Well, not like that, but essentially that’s what it’s like. I don’t want a 9 - 5 life like that. I want… a 0600 - 1400, or maybe 1400 - 2200, anything on the other side of the clock! Nearly all the jobs I’ve chosen, besides being people oriented, essentially run on rotational shifts, so I must already have a subconscious predisposition to any sort of ‘desk job’.
And now it’s past midnight.. Sleep calls……. zzz
